What would it be like if a patch of marginal land in an urban area was transformed into a productive yard as well as having an organic waste composting installation? Such is the form of collaboration between ECOLIVING and the Royal Janti Residence community in Malang City.
Having started an environmentally friendly movement in 2023, ECOLIVING again collaborated with the Royal Janti Residence community in an effort to green urban areas while educating organic waste management on Sunday (12/01/2025).
The program, which has the theme “Hijaukan Royal Janti, Sehatkan Negeri”, carries out the transformation of marginal land in urban areas through planting horticultural plants as well as strengthening the character of zero-waste with compost education.
Mrs. Emisriani, head of the Royal Janti Residence PKK, emphasized the positive benefits of land management through the urban farming system. “We hope that this activity will not only optimize empty land but also be able to green the environment while meeting the needs of local housewives,” she said.
This activity begins with an urban farming system on land that has not been utilized properly. Through a donation system from local women, this collaboration managed to gather more than 59 plants with 25 different types that were planted simultaneously.

Not only that, the collaboration between Royal Janti Residence and ECOLIVING also promotes the importance of food waste management through composting practices. Starting from the collection of household waste that had been carried out a few days earlier, housewives and young people received training on food waste processing from ECOLIVING.
This activity successfully involved 16 housewives and 30 youths to encourage sustainable practices in urban areas. Not only is this collaboration expected to raise environmental awareness, but it is also expected to be a pilot project related to urban farming practices and maximizing land in urban areas.
